Welcome

Hello and welcome to the Seoul Singers website! I'm Erika Wootton and I am the director of this wonderful international choir.  I am a general music teacher at Seoul American Elementary School and this is my second year teaching in Korea. (I love it!) I have a degree in Choral Music Education from N. Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ.  I have numerous experiences with directing, managing and singing in choirs but this is my first year directing the Seoul Singers. That said, music is my passion and I greatly look forward to sharing that love with you.

History

The founder of the Seoul Singers is George Novinger, formerly a First Secretary at the American Embassy Seoul who served as its Supervisory General Services Officer.

In the Summer of 2007, he and his family transferred back to Washington DC after a three-year tour in Seoul.

Last Fall 2007, George was replaced as director by former choir member Mrs. Erika Wootton.

Seoul Singers is an international choir that was started in 2005 and is now in its third season.

The basic aim of the Seoul Singers (Seoul Kukje Hapchang-dan) is to promote better understanding between people through the performance of choral music.

In keeping with this philosophy, the Seoul Singers are comprised of approximately 35- 40 musicians, with backgrounds from eight countries,  including singers from the local Korean and expatriate communities, the U.S. Embassy and U.S. Forces Korea.

They come from diverse cultural, ethnic, and lingual backgrounds, and their repertoire includes songs from many countries in various languages.

Membership

Membership is open to all. Prior choir experience is appreciated but not expected. Dues are 20,000 won.
